Into the Three Gorges

The day began with a tour of the Three Gorges Dam, a monster of a dam, over 2Â km long and 100 m high. It would take three locks to get the Yangtze Princess up it, accompanied by a few transport barges (yep, the locks are big too!).
The gorge is hemmed in by high hills, may of them very steep. This, coupled with the haze, makes them look exactly like those on local paintings. Unfortunately this is hard to capture with my little camera, so you will have to take my word for it.
That evening we were entertained by a talent show put on by the crew, consisting of magic, singing, and dancing. The show was superb, and the beer exceedingly refreshing after the heat of the day.
